From 2017 until 2023, Shiela Mae worked as a housemaid in the Philippines. She served a Filipino family with two children, a 4-month-old baby girl and a 1-year-old boy, living in a two-story house with 4 bedrooms and 3 toilets. The household employed three helpers, and Shiela Mae’s main responsibility was to take care of the children, especially the 4-month-old baby girl. Her duties included bathing, changing clothes, diaper changing, feeding, assisting with toileting, and ensuring the children’s health and safety. She also helped care for the children during times of illness by giving medicine and providing close attention to their needs.

Shiela Mae has another working experience as a domestic helper in Singapore from 2023 to 2024. Her first employer was a Chinese family living in an HDB flat with 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets. She was the only helper in the household and was responsible for taking care of four children—two girls aged 4 months and 9 years, and two boys aged 7 and 10. Her main duty was to look after the 4-month-old baby, which included tasks such as bathing, diaper changing, sterilizing baby utensils, and preparing milk formula. In addition to childcare, she also managed general household chores such as cooking, cleaning, ironing, laundry, and marketing.

In 2024, Shiela Mae worked for another Chinese family in Singapore, also living in an HDB flat with 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets. The family had one 7-year-old boy with autism. As the sole helper, she focused on providing consistent routines, clear communication, and patient care. She followed a structured schedule, used visual supports to aid communication, and was mindful of the child’s sensory sensitivities. She also emphasized positive reinforcement, allowed time for relaxation and play, and encouraged the child’s participation in activities he enjoyed. Alongside caregiving, she handled household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and ironing.

Shiela Mae’s special skills include hand sewing and bicycle riding. Her hobbies are cooking, reading, and cleaning. She is willing to learn simple baking and is also open to doing car washing, gardening, and looking after pets. She prefers to work for Chinese families, as well as Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian families.
